The Standard

The Standard is influenced and upheld by three aspects: environment, effort and ego.

The undeniable reality is that we are products of the environment. This is a law of human nature. Organisms mirror and are direct expressions of the conditions of their habitat. The Standard, in this sense is continually reinforced by The Space, which demands that this be upheld until one either adapts or is refuses too and leaves. This process organically filters those that are open to change and those who are not.

Effort dictates one’s willingness to try. It is 100% within the individuals control and because of this, is an intensely personal and subjective experience. Only the individual can make a true and honest assessment of their effort, though they must be aware of the Ego’s ability to delude. Effort is not always correlated with intensity but more so with intent. The Standard represents this unwavering intent; The Space is where this is practiced.

Understanding ego is an exercise of self-awareness; it is to question; to understand and investigate the why. The ego is constantly challenged; and this is the point – if it becomes too strong, there is risk of rigidity and dogma, ultimately resulting in an inability to change. This can be toxic and destroy the culture and dilute The Standard. One must always be willing to be wrong, in order to continue and sustainably progress. The constant reminder: This is not the finished product. This is a practice.

Hold the Standard. And understand the aspects that influence it.

Environment. Effort. Ego.
